Crash the Car is an all original rock band that mixes crunchy guitars, predatory bass, primitive drumming and vein-in-the-forehead vocals to achieve thier sound.
This formula should sound familiar to fans of Rage Against the Machine, The Cult, Stone Temple Pilots, Danzig and other guitar-heavy arena rockers.
Joe Pluff plays guitar and is one of the founding members of the band. He's got chops for days and balances pure shreddiness with discipline. The result is melodic, well-considered solos and thick, chunky rhythms. With all of that, we don't need a second guitar player.
Scott King plays bass. He's the mad scientist responsible for some of the truly horrifying tones that anchor our sound. He's also got some pretty formidible slap, tap and fingerstyle chops. If you're ever at one of our shows and think you hear a freight train crossing the stage, it's probably him. He's also the other founding member.
RJ Stafos is our lead singer and a great front man. He's not full of shit like most lead singers and crowds can feel that right away. He's got a powerful voice and can sell a song but can also break it down with a level of confidence that invites the crowd to ride along. Chicks just want to hug him.
Bryan Mace plays drums and is the newest member of the band. He plays a freaky little drum set with everything set up out of order. That may be why he doesn't seem to care what other drummers are doing and instead reaches for more unusual ideas behind the kit. It's not clear if he always gets away with it, but it does look like he's having a blast hanging it out there.
Update: Crash the Car is taking a break so that we can pursue other projects. Joe Pluff is now playing guitar in For the Broken, a hard rock band with religious overtones. Scott and Bryan have formed a trance-dance electronica project called Gorilla Dance Club. Check out both bands when you get a chance.
